The following is a sample syllabus of what is included in our
Beginner courses. The information listed below is subject to change since
we continually refine and improve our course material and instruction.
Beginning Milonguero Style Argentine Tango - the following beginner
topics will usually be covered in a set of 2 four weeks courses (8 weeks total).
The two classes are called "Milonguero: Tango in Small Spaces" where we
focus on turning movements that stay mainly in place and "Milonguero: Playing With
Blocks", where we explore how to combine small elements for rhythmic effects.
They aren't sequential, you can do either one first, but both of them need to be
completed to move on to the Intermediate Tango topics.
- Walking to the music, finding the beat
- Posture and Embrace (open and milonguero style
close embrace)
- Connecting with your partner
- Elements of walking
- Changing weight in place
- Balance steps
- Rock steps (cunitas)
- Basic musicality: phrasing, rhythm and tempo
- Rock turn to left
- Half giro (rock/check turn) to the right
- Walking outside partner in close embrace with
variations
